2013 EFA General Assembly: new members, Darko Brlek re-elected President
The 2013 General Assembly & Conference of the European Festivals Association (EFA) took place from 18-21 April in Granada, Spain, and was hosted by the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada. It was the opportunity for 145 delegates representing 66 festivals from 35 countries to meet peer colleagues, to exchange on what is at stake in the world of festivals all over Europe and beyond, to identify festivals' contributions to today's world, and to have an inspiring time. One of the main outcomes: the Association representing 110 festivals from 44 countries re-elected its current President Darko Brlek.

UNESCO and CERDOTOLA Join Forces for the Promotion of African Cultures
On 12 April, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, and the Executive Secretary of the International Centre for Research and Documentation on African Traditions and Languages (CERDOTOLA), Charles Binan Bikoi, signed an agreement to establish stronger, formal cooperation between the two Organizations, drawing on their respective expertise in the fields of culture and the safeguarding and promotion of African languages and African heritage. New Initiative Announced by NMC and MPA to Educate on Respecting Artists Rights
As part of the "Music in Our Schools Month" celebration of March, 2013, the National Music Council (NMC) and the Music Publishers Association of the United States (MPA) have announced the release of a new, innovative education tool for primary school students designed to teach respect and admiration for creators, inventors and their works.

ECSA Creators Conference
The 2013 edition of ECSA's Creators Conference opened with a panel discussing freedom of speech and authors' rights. Entitled "Your Voice – Your Rights", the panelists Yekaterina Samutsevich (Pussy Riot), Alfons Karabuda (ECSA) and Ole Reitov (Freemuse) discussed key concerns of music writers, including freedom of expression and censorship in music.

Echos de la vie musicale en Tunisie
Depuis la "Révolution Tunisienne" dont la première étincelle a éclaté le 17 décembre 2010 (pendant la première édition des Journées Musicales de Carthage) le paysage musical a changé d'aspect et d'acteurs. Plusieurs organisations professionnelles ont vu le jour, les syndicats des musiciens, des chanteurs, des compositeurs... sont à pied d'œuvre dans les grandes villes du pays. Tous se battent pour une meilleure organisation de la vie musicale, une meilleure protection des droits moraux et matériels des professionnels.
