Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Chiang Mai - Apply by 31 January!

efa logo smallThe Festival Academy, an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA), is calling for applications for the Atelier for Young Festival Managers to take place from 1 to 7 December 2016 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in collaboration with Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau. Some ten renowned festival directors will guide 45 participants through the 7-day training programme. Young festival managers from all over the world are invited to apply until 31 January 2016.

The Atelier for Young Festival Managers is an intense 7-day training programme addressed at emerging artistic festival directors or those who have ambitions to get involved in programming or in related departments within a festival. It is about sharing experiences and passing on knowledge to the next generation of festival makers: knowledge about programming a festival, while focusing on the very essence of art festivals – the arts and the artist.

“The true role of a festival is to help artists to dare, to engage in new projects,” is the motto of the Atelier, coined by Bernard Faivre d’Arcier, longstanding Director of the Avignon Festival, President of the Lyon Biennial (France).

Explore festival issues in different formats

45 young festival managers from all over the world will be selected to participate in the Atelier. Around 10 distinguished festival directors, will each attend for at least two full days and work together with participants throughout the 7 days. In lectures, one-on-one talks, group discussions as well as intense workshops on case studies, issues such as artistic vision, public responsibility, creation and coproduction, internationalisation, networking, renewal and sustainability will be explored. Join a unique new network

The Atelier counts 335 alumni from 65 countries after nine Ateliers for Young Festival Managers since 2006 in Goerlitz, Varna, Singapore, Izmir, Ljubljana, Edinburgh, Poznan,Beirut and Gwangju. Participants of the Chiang Mai edition will become part of this unique global network of young festival makers which will grow further after the upcoming Atelier Budapest 2016.

Dancescreen: Film submission starts 2 November 2015

Organized by the IMZ International Centre for Music + Media, dancescreen is the most prestigious international competition among the dance film and video festivals. The 14th dancescreen edition in 2016 will take place within FRAME-The London dance film festival from 9-12 June 2016 at Kingston Upon Thames (UK), which is hosted by BalletBoyz.

First launched in 1988, dancescreen offers a competition alongside an eclectic programme of film screenings, panels and pitching sessions. It supports young artists and facilitates networking between directors, choreographers and potential buyers including broadcasters, festival curators, media and art institutions from all over the world.

L'Alliance des Managers d'Artistes (AMA) et l'International Music Managers Forum (IMMF) étaient présents au MaMA de Paris du 14 au 16 Octobre 2015 avec une conférence sur le Thème:

Music 2025 : le futur du management d’artistes

Plus que jamais essentiels aux côtés des artistes dans le nouvel écosystème de la musique, les managers sont amenés à adapter leurs pratiques dans un contexte en constante évolution. L’actualité du secteur musical les conduit à adopter une vision de plus en plus pertinente et prospective sur le devenir de leur métier. A l’occasion du MaMA, un panel international de managers de différents horizons partagera ses réflexions sur l’avenir du droit d’auteur et des droits voisins (notamment en Europe où Bruxelles prépare une réforme), sur l’avenir de la rémunération des artistes dans un marché qui sera dominé par le streaming, sur la viabilité économique du management quand les sources de revenus classiques s’amenuisent et sur les nouvelles opportunités à développer pour et autour des artistes. A quoi ressemblera l’activité du manager à l’horizon 2025 ? Quels sont les scénarios probables, les problématiques pressenties, les nouvelles approches à anticiper ? Déclinant ici la conférence « Musik 2025 » qu’avait initié MaMA en 2010, les managers préparent leur futur.
