2016 - ISCM Young Composer Award
On April 1st 2016 at the final concert of the 2016 ISCM World Music Days in Tongyeong, Yejune Synn was announced to win the 2016 ISCM Young Composer Award with Zoetrope for orchestra.
International Dance Day
In 1982 the Dance Committee of the ITI founded International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on the 29th April, anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet.
EBU-IMZ international co-production development pitching session
Exclusively for IMZ Members, the European Broadcasting Union EBU offers a new pitching format, supporting the development and research for intended film / TV coproductions (pitch I). In a second section of this call, furthermore EBU members will be offered the chance to join as coproduction partners for intended productions (pitch II).

Dear EMCY readers,
In the beginning of the year a lot of competitions took place. We had the possibility to visit some of our member competitions i.e. in Norway (50th competition!!) and Estonia. We could see the quality of the competitions as well as the engagement of the responsible organisers. Also we visited applying competitions in The Netherlands and Russia.
EMCY: Young Talents on Tour
Music unites Europe!
Yanis Grisó, Natalia Labourdette, Astrid Bjelland and Gustas Raudonius, these four names should be followed closely in the future. They are outstanding and young European musicians, prize winners of the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) and from Friday 11th to Monday 14th March they will play together six concerts in Luxemburg and Germany (tour dates below).
Behind these four names stand Gustas, a young pianist from Lithuania, laureate of the Lithuanian national competition Balys Dvarionas Piano and String Competition, Yanis, a 12 year old Luxembourgish violinist, prize winner of the Concours Luxembourgeois et Européen pour Jeunes Solistes, Natalia, an emergent Spanish singer and EMCY prize winner of the Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes Intérpretes de Juventudes Musicales de España and Astrid, a young flutist from Norway, winner of the EMCY prize at the Norwegian Music Competition for Youth.
The tour will start in Luxemburg, where the musicians meet for the first time and practise their common repertoire. On 11th March they kick off their Young Talents on Tour with the first concert in Luxemburg City. The programme features famous works of W. A. Mozart, Franz Liszt and Edvard Grieg also pieces from their home countries including Enrique Granados, Balys Dvarionas und Anatolijus Šenderovas, which the musicians will present and explain to the audiences.
The tour is a cooperation of EMCY with the UGDA Music School, the Werner und Felicitas Egerland Stiftung, the embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as well as the music school Iserlohn and the foundation LebenMühlheim and it is organised in the framework of the Erasmus+ project INTER-NATIONAL net_works+.
The European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) is a network of 50 national and international youth music competitions in 30 European countries. EMCY stands for musical excellence, the promotion of the youth and the European cooperation. EMCY promotes young European prize winners by innovative concerts, tours, master classes and workshops all over Europe. www.emcy.org

GRAND SCORES 2016
The Grand Scores 2016, initiated and curated by Moët & Chandon Germany, were organised in Berlin on 10 February 2016 as an intimate award ceremony dedicated to the celebration of international film music and its composers – casting the light on the value of film music composition and its unique contribution to the most emotional cinematic experiences.
