EFA Solidarity with Ukraine

The European Festivals Association (EFA) condemns Russia's hostilities in Ukraine. For the time being, we will suspend all our activities and all our collaboration projects in Russia and give our full support to the steps to end the war in Europe. We show solidarity with Ukrainian people, artists, arts festivals, cultural actors and all the people of the region. We act in accordance with UN resolution that demands Russia “immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders”.

SIMM: 5th research seminar

The 5th SIMM research seminar is organized by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Copenhagen Centre for Research in Artistic Citizenship (CReARC/RMC) and the research platform SIMM and will be focussing on research on which music is proposed/created within social and community music projects.

The seminar is planned to take place from 5 to 8th September 2022 at the Guildhall School in London.

World Theatre Day Message 2022 by Peter SELLARS


Dear Friends,


As the world hangs by the hour and by the minute on a daily drip feed of news reportage, may I invite all of us, as creators, to enter our proper scope and sphere and perspective of epic time, epic change, epic awareness, epic reflection, and epic vision? We are living in an epic period in human history and the deep and consequential changes we are experiencing in human beings’ relations to themselves, to each other, and to nonhuman worlds are nearly beyond our abilities to grasp, to articulate, to speak of, and to express.
We are not living in the 24-hour news cycle, we are living at the edge of time. Newspapers and media are completely unequipped and unable to deal with what we are experiencing.
Where is the language, what are the moves, and what are the images that might allow us to comprehend the deep shifts and ruptures that we are experiencing? And how can we convey the content of our lives right now not as reportage but experience?
Theater is the artform of experience.
