Dear REMA friends,

A... new year! I think we all hesitate to quickly attach an adjective to 2021, still reeling from a year that challenged us at every turn and sometimes even made us question the essence of who we are. But here it is: a new year in which REMA will continue to nourish the early music community as part of the vibrant and essential European arts scene, in which we’ll meet again in person and online to exchange ideas on repertoire, performance, research and more, and a year in which the network will open up to many and varied new members.

A year not to be missed, if I can be so hopeful. I can’t wait to get started!

The 2020 REMA Early Music Awards were given to Vincent Dumestre, founder and director of le Poème Harmonique and Jérôme Lejeune, musicologist, label founder and gambist. As we near the end of 2020, it's time to look at what was accomplished. And needless to say... what a strange year! The COVID crisis disrupted the entire cultural sector's habits, and REMA had to adapt and rethink all its activities. The Early Music Day on 21 March became a fully digital edition, with, despite the lockdown, more contributions than ever! REMA also started «REMAin Connected», a series of zoom conferences that initiated a dialogue with the entire early music sector.
