Results of the 2015 International Rostrum of Composers
Songr for Orchestra (2014) by Norwegian composer Jan Erik MIKALSEN (born 1979) and Cancro (2015) for symphony orchestra by young Slovenian composer Matej BONIN (born 1986) are the works selected by radio music producers participating in the 62nd International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) held in Tallinn, from May 12 to 15, 2015. A flagship programme of the International Music Council, this year's IRC edition was for the first time in the history of the IRC co-organised by Estonian Public Broadcasting in the framework of a Creative Europe co-funded project named Rostrum+.
International Rostrum of Composers' Latest Commission on Streaming

Further to the selection of his work "Abismo al Abismo" in the under 30 category of the IRC in 2011, young Argentinean composer Juan Pablo Nicoletti was awarded a commission by IMC and Radio France. "Qhapaqkunap" was recorded in Paris in 2014 and it is now available for streaming. A polyphonic composition which is an homage to the very first choral work of South America and reconnects the ancestral story of the continent with the contemporary world.
IMC project selected for funding from the International Fund for Cultural Diversity
Paris, December 10, 2014 - A funding application for the project "Empowering African youth to harness the potential of the music sector as enabler and driver of development" submitted by the IMC to the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity has been approved today by the 8th Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
Participate in the UNESCO Survey on the Status of the Artist
UNESCO is undertaking an important review of the implementation of the UNESCO 1980 Recommendation concerning the Status of the Artist. This is a timely and valuable exercise that will help provide current data regarding the status of the artist nationally, regionally and globally, and which will be reflected in a consolidated report to be presented to the UNESCO General Conference in 2015. A Survey is therefore being sent to all UNESCO Member States as well as Non-Governmental Organizations and other civil society organizations.
Results of the 11th edition of the African Music Rostrum
In the wake of the cultural renaissance launched by the African Union since 2008, the African Music Council (AMC) – regional group of the International Music Council – organized the 11th session of the African Music Rostrum in the framework of the 5th edition of « FEUX DE BRAZZA ».

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The International Music Council, in partnership with Busara promotion, and within the framework of the African Music development program, wishes to promote exchanges in the African music sector and networking between young professionals and music festivals across the continent.
From December 15th to February 20th, two young professionals will be sent to Zanzibar for a 2 month work placement at the Sauti za Busara Festival.

New Talent 2014
New Talent is a European competition for instrumentalists under the age of 28 and singers under the age of 30 and is organized by the EBU on behalf of the International Music Council (IMC). The winner of the 2014 edition is the Franco-Belgian cellist Camille Thomas.
IMC Mourns Salah El Mehdi
It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Professor Salah El Mehdi who passed away on the 12th of September at the age of 89.
