News from ECSA – October edition

As the COVID-19 crisis had a disastrous impact on the livelihood of millions of creators and cultural professionals, ECSA and many other European organisations from the CCSs sent a joint letter to BUDG, ECON and CULT MEPs on Tuesday 20th October. The letter asks MEPs to support a number of amendments tabled on the draft Report on a Recovery and Resilience Facility. These amendments which are in line with the European Parliament’s recent resolution on the cultural recovery of Europe, for at least 2% of the Recovery and Resilience Facility to be earmarked for the cultural and creative sector.

This situation also shows to us that an orchestra, just as quality itself, is only a possibility and the conditions it needs have to be created each time with many willing hands and efforts, from scratch. With this focus in mind the team of Callias Foundation is working on new cooperations and a strategy for the coming 7 years.

On 6 October 2020, the members of REMA, the European Early Music Network, took a historic decision to start welcoming all types of professional organisations active in the early music sector.

The European Festivals Association (EFA) has launched "Eye-to-Eye, The Festival Quarterly" its brand new E-magazine beginning of September. Eye-To-Eye assembles a variety of voices that speak about our society, the state of the arts and reasons why the arts exist, concepts, and moments in contemporary life. Eye-to-Eye will be published every 3 months.
