The European Orchestra Federation (EOFed) held an online conference on 1 November with more than 30 participants from 16 countries. 19 members of EOFed were represented at the meeting, national orchestra federations, music organisations and individual orchestras. Board members and librarians of EOFed member federations, orchestra managers, conductors and festival organizers attended. Members from Germany, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Hungary, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Ireland, United Kingdom and Italy took the opportunity to discuss many topics. It was very good for networking and finding out about the projects of each other.
In the first part of the meeting the report was presented on the survey of the music libraries of EOFed member federations. International exchange and lending of sheet music between EOFed members was discussed.
The second part of the conference focused on EOFed and its member activities. Participants were provided with information about the 12th European Orchestra Festival in 2022 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and other projects of EOFed. Members presented their plans and events. The conference talked about ideas on more cooperation between members and exchanging solutions to problems. It was a great chance to share ideas and projects with each other. The EOFed plans to continue online meetings with its members in the future.
European Orchestra Federation is an umbrella organisation of European youth and amateur symphony and chamber orchestra including more than 2400 orchestras with about 100 000 musicians.
