UNESCO renews its close partnership with IMC

newslogoThe UNESCO Executive Board decided on March 8, 2012 to admit the International Music Council as NGO partner with associate status for a renewable term of eight years.

This decisions followed the adoption - by the last General Conference of UNESCO in autumn 2011 - of new directives concerning UNESCO's partnership with non-governmental organisations. At the end of an internal evaluation process, the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, had recommended to the 58 Member States represented in the Executive Board the admission of IMC to associate status.

IMC is both pleased and honoured to continue its long-standing partnership with UNESCO. IMC was founded in 1949 at the request of the UNESCO Director General as advisory body to UNESCO on musical matters.
