36th IMC General Assembly in collaboration with Visa for Music

Paris, November 3, 2015. - IMC will hold its 36th biennial General Assembly in Rabat, Morocco, from 11 to 13 November 2015 in the framework of Visa for Music.

Visa for Music is the first professional market of Africa and Middle-East musics. An essential and major meeting place for professionals of the whole music industry, which aims to be a sharing platform for the defense and promotion of the musical sector of African and Middle Eastern countries.


Next to three plenary sessions on November 11 and 12, the General Assembly will include exchanges in breakout groups on members’ current opportunities and challenges as well as meetings of the IMC Regional Music Councils.


At the plenary sessions, the Executive Board will report to the membership on the implementation of the work plan adopted at the 2013 General Assembly as well as on the financial situation. Members will review the proposed work plan for the next four years and the budget for 2016-17. Statutory elections of the Executive Board as well as the President will also take place.
In order to highlight the collaboration with Visa for Music, the 2015 IMC Five Music Rights Awards presentation ceremony will be held during the official opening of Visa for Music at the Mohammed V Theater on November 11 (20:00).
A series of public sessions will allow IMC members and professionals participating in Visa for Music to connect and interact with each other:

November 12, 14:30 - 16:30 - Villa des Arts

Workshop on the mobility of artists hosted by Marie Le Sourd, Secretary General of On the Move

November 13, 14:30 -16:30 - HIBA Foundation

"World Café" discussions on a digital agenda for the IMC Five Music Rights: a brief introduction to the topic will result in small group discussions that will be then discussed in a plenary session.
After the “World Café”, IMC members will have a dedicated time slot to present their projects at 17:00 at Renaissance Café.

In addition, the International Music Council is co-organising two of the four Visa for Music conferences, namely:

-Music and Peace: do artists and cultural actors have vocation to reconcile human communities?

-The importance of networks and mobility in the music industry


Both conferences will be held November 13 at 10 am and 11:30 respectively.
