Culture at Work Africa releases its final publication
Culture is the way we understand our lives and the meaning we make of them. Culture nourishes the values that are the foundation of people-centred development. Culture is also the active participation in the celebration of life, the safeguarding and renewal of heritage, the processes of creative expression, and the discovery of diversity.
Much has been written in the last 40 years on the place of culture in development, but it is difficult to find documents or reports that illustrate in practice, at work, how culture changes our societies in an empowering way. The publication – Culture at Work Africa. The public value of intercultural dialogue for social cohesion in urban Africa – addresses this gap.
International Music Council's partnership with Global Music Vault!
The Global Music Vault partners with the International Music Council
The Global Music Vault is dedicated to safeguarding the world’s music of yesterday and today, forever. With support from their founding partner the International Music Council (IMC), their mission is to pass on the world heritage to the next generations, while at the same time celebrating the music that has shaped our cultures and inspired a global community, by ensuring it is never forgotten.
We need a SHIFT from victims to structures
SHIFT – Sharing Initiatives for Training is an Erasmus+ funded strategic partnership project, bringing together several cultural networks with the ambition to contribute to a better and more sustainable future as recognised in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SHIFT aims to develop training for cultural leaders on the topics of environmental sustainability, gender and power relations, inclusion, and cultural leadership.
This newsletter has been produced by IETM - International network for contemporary performing arts, leading SHIFT partner on the topic of Gender & Power Relations, and in collaboration with EMC, project coordinator. More information about SHIFT can be found on shift-culture.eu.
