Encuentros Foundation Celebrates its 45th Anniversary

The International Encounters for Contemporary Music Foundation of Argentina celebrates, in 2013 , the 45th anniversary of its creation, which means that we have devoted 45 years to make the contemporary music and their musicians from all the world known to the Buenos Aires audiences including many provinces of our country through concerts, seminars, international meetings, composition competitions, radio auditions...all these activities free for all the public.

Together with the 45th anniversary of our Foundation, this year is the 35th anniversary of the Grupo Encuentros conducted by our Artistic Director, composer Alicia Terzian integrated by important interpreters as Marta Blanco, Claudio Espector, Fabio Mazzitelli, Matías Tchicourel, Sergio Polizzi, Carlos Nozzi , as well as many other who join every year the Grupo Encuentros to present new works .

This is in brief the 45 years of Encuentros:

* 700 public free concerts

* 220 seminars in charge of personalities of the contemporary music world

* 320 Argentine composers were awarded in the TRINAC/TRIME Competitions and Encuentros presented their works in international tribunes, fora and festivals.

* 2016 radio auditions broadcast on Radio Provincia, ex Radio Municipal, Radio Nacional, Radio Cultura Musical

* 250 foreign artists invited (soloists, ensembles, choir and orchestra conductors, musicologists) among the most talented as well as Argentine soloists, ensembles and orchestras.

* The Grupo Encuentros realized 33 international tournees with 320 concerts offered in the most important festivals and theatres in the 5 continentes and diffusing the Argentine and Latin American music of composers of our time.

* The Encuentros Foundations gave economic support and co-organized in Argentina a great number of important international activities with the International Music Council.

* 1997: Conference about Musical Education in Latin America with specialists from our American continent, such as León Biriotti (Uruguay); Marlos Nobre and José Augusto Mannis (Brasil); Gabriel Matthey Correa (Chile); José Vicente Torres (Venezuela); Guido López Gavilán (Cuba); Guillermo Cáceres (El Salvador); María del Carmen Méndez Navas (Costa Rica) and Carlos Seoane Urioste (Bolivia).

* 2001 : "Pan American Forum of FIM" ( International Federation of Music ) with musicians from France, Canada, USA , Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Republica Dominicana, Bolivia, Panama, Honduras, Argentina, Cuba,Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Brasil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.

*2001: First Forum devoted to the 'National identity in the music of oral tradition, the creation and the musical education', with the participation of musicians of the following communities: Tobas from Chaco, Mapuche, Guaraní nation, Calchaquí chants, Huarpes of Argentina and the natives communities from Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico and Uruguay.

*2004: 24 Workshops on musical education for professors, teachers and supervisors of primary schools and universities of the whole country, sponsored by the Ford Foundation of USA, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 and Fundación Agustín y Enrique Rocca.
