Music and memory

Can you recite the lyrics of a song from years ago but can’t remember where you put your keys?

That’s because music and memory are connected.

Research shows that the brain responds to music even when other abilities are lost.

Dementia patients, who struggle with speech and basic tasks, light up when they hear their favourite songs.

Music and Memory recorded 9 August Sydney Science Festival

First broadcast 11 September 2018
