Rostrum+
Rostrum+ is a project that aims to rethink the ways in which contemporary music connects with audiences through radio network by exploring new strategies to develop audiences, promote new music, enhance the skills of radio professionals and inspire cooperation between musicians, higher music education institutions and broadcasting companies throughout Europe and beyond. The springboard for the project is the International Rostrum of Composers, an annual event uniting some 40 delegates of national broadcasting companies. Building upon this existing foundation, the project will introduce new activities that connect with other operators of the genre, the end goal being the expansion and durable growth/sustaining of the contemporary music sector in Europe and beyond.
To this end, the International Music Council will partner with 3 national public radios, 3 higher music education institutions, one European cultural network and 2 cultural venues to bring the IRC out of its boundaries. To achieve our objectives and address all of the target groups necessary for the action, the Rostrum+ project sets out a diverse set of activities:
–Listen: a series of listening sessions for national public radio broadcasters
–Live!: a series of 13 concerts performed by students
–Create: co-commissions to 6 composers
–Forum: a series of activities will be implemented to enhance the capacity of radio producers to deal with the new challenges, explore possibilities and develop solutions
–Lab: an unprecedented activity in which radio producers will be invited to experiment innovative approaches to present contemporary compositions to the public and allow them to interact with it
–Edu: academic training, live concerts and meetings with composers, professionals from radio and concert halls to develop a dynamic link with the musicians of tomorrow

African Music Development Programme
The African Music Development Programme was launched in the beginning of 2014 by the International Music Council, and takes place in 9 African countries with the support of numerous actors, institutions and professionals of the music sector. This major initiative aims to support the music industry through a series of targeted actions, one of the top priorities being to increase job opportunities for actors of the sector. This project benefits from the financial contribution of the European Union and the assistance of the ACP Group of States.
This programme is led in close cooperation with numerous partners: the African and European Music Councils, the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), Makerere University in Uganda, Hildesheim University in Germany, music festivals such as Le Kolatier in Cameroon, Feux de Brazza, Sauti za Busara in Zanzibar, and the national sections of Music Crossroads in Malawi and Mozambique. Training activities will be offered to the festival teams, and the setting up of internships for young African culture professionals within said festivals will encourage a structuring impact on the sector.
Planned activities in the academic field comprise student and staff exchange among music departments of African universities and aim to improve the quality of professional training in music and music teaching. Academic research, distribution of works, the structuring of and networking within the sector are also part of this major programme that will reach its peak during the African Forum on Music in 2016 in Abidjan.

Le programme "International Music Fellow" du CIM

Le nouveau programme 'International Music Fellow' du Conseil international de la musique vise à récompenser des individus méritants tout en soutenant le CIM financièrement par des dons de €1000 ou plus.
Chaque 'International Music Fellow' sera récompensé au Forum mondial de la musique du CIM qui se tient tous les deux ans dans une ville différente du monde. A cette occasion, le Fellow recevra un certificat 'International Music Fellow' et une barrette honorifique. En plus, pour démontrer son appartenance à un groupe distingué au sein du CIM, le Fellow figurera sur le site du CIM. Les noms des 'Fellows' seront inscrits sur une plaque commémorative au siège du CIM à Paris.

Pour les candidatures en vue d'une récompense au 5e Forum mondial de la musique à Brisbane (21-24 novembre 2013), le formulaire dûment complété doit être envoyé au Secrétariat du CIM au plus tard le 15 août 2013.

Le programme du CIM "International Music Fellow" est ouvert à toute personne de toute nationalité.
Les nominations peuvent être soumises par un individu, un groupe d'individus, une association, une ONG, une entreprise privée ou bien une entité publique.
Il est impératif de décrire dans le formulaire comment le candidat soutient les cinq droits musicaux du CIM.
Les candidatures peuvent être proposées toute au long de l'année. Pour une reconnaissance au 5e Forum mondial de la musique en novembre 2013, les candidaturse devront nous parvenir au plus tard le 15 août 2013.
Le processus d'évaluation prend normalement deux mois. Les candidatures seront examinées par le Directoire du CIM en consultation avec les Conseils régionaux de la musique.

Un formulaire incomplet ne sera pas accepté.
Sur acceptation du candidat, un paiement de 1.000 € ou plus doit être transferé au CIM par le(s) proposant(s) dans un délai de deux semaines. Les instructions de paiement seront incluses dans la notification de l'acceptation.
Le CIM ne prendra pas en charge les frais de déplacement au Forum mondial de la musique.
Dans le cas où le candidat désigné ne pourrait pas assister au Forum, le certificat et la barrette lui seront envoyés par la poste.
La date et le lieu de la cérémonie seront décidés par le CIM et les hôtes locaux du Forum mondial de la musique.

Any individual can be nominated for the IMC International Music Fellow programme.
Nominations can be put forward by any individual, group of individuals, organisation, NGO, public authority or private company.
Biographical information should highlight how the recipient fulfils a commitment to the IMC's Five Musical Rights.
Applications are accepted throughout the year. For recognition at the 5th IMC World Forum on Music in November 2013, applications should be sent by 15th August 2013 at the latest.
The review process usually takes 2 months. Nominations are reviewed by the IMC Directorate in consultation with the IMC Regional Music Councils.

Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
Once the Fellow has been accepted, payment of €1,000 or more must be submitted to IMC by the nominator(s) within 2 weeks. Payment instructions will be sent along with the notification of acceptance.
IMC will not pay travel costs to the World Forum on Music.
Should a Fellow be unable to attend, the certificate and pin will be posted to him/her.
Date and venue for the ceremony will be decided by IMC and local hosts of the Forum only.
IMC International Music Fellow Programme

The IMC International Music Fellow programme is designed to honour deserving individuals whilst at the same time supporting the efforts of the International Music Council through a donation of €1,000 or more.
New International Music Fellows will be recognized at the IMC World Forum on Music, which is held biennially at different locations around the world. On this occasion, Fellows will receive an International Music Fellow certificate and an honorary pin. As part of a distinctive society within the IMC, International Music Fellows will also be prominently recognized on the IMC website. The name of each Fellow will be inscribed on a commemorative plaque located at the IMC Headquarters in Paris.

All of us have been enriched over the years by extraordinary persons who should be recognized for the impact they have made. I hope that our member organisations and their members will take advantage of this unique opportunity to honour them and to sustain the mission of the IMC", underlines Frans de Ruiter, IMC President.

Music Empowers Global Youth
The IMC has received EU funding for a cooperation project on youth participation: Music Empowers Global Youth (MEGY). The central objective of the project is to enhance active youth participation in all aspects of the music sector worldwide, and through this to empower young people to take on a more active role in shaping their future as citizens of Europe and the world. The project activities and the resulting structures and network enable mobility of young people and youth workers and develop sustainable partnerships and networks between young people and youth and cultural organisations worldwide.
One of the main outcomes and at the same time the major pillar of Music Empowers Global Youth project is IMC Youth, which developped from the IMC youth advisory group loosely formed in 2009 to enhance active youth participation and mobility in the IMC and in the music sector worldwide. IMC Youth works in close cooperation with the Working Group Youth (WGY) of the European Music Council. Together with the young people gathered in the WGY and in IMC Youth, the MEGY project intends to build upon the successes of the EU funded project Access! project and to further promote the Manifesto for Youth and Music in Europe on an international level.
In order to achieve its aims, the MEGY project has gathered cooperation partners in different fields of expertise from all over the world.
The MEGY Project has been made possible with the support of the Youth programme of the European Union
Activities in 2012 and follow-up actions in 2013 have benefitted from the financial support of UNESCO.
