THINK TANKS IN AUSTRALIA

mca-logo1.jpgDIGITAL THINK TANKS
The Music Council of Australia is organising some think tanks to address problems around digitisation of music.

YOUTH MUSIC COUNCIL
The Music Council is forming a national youth music council to advise or even lead on issues affecting youth. It would like to establish contact with other similar groups around the world.

DIGITAL THINK TANKS
The Music Council of Australia is organising a series of five think tanks, beginning in May and running through to December. The first four will deal with the continuing and unresolved problems around digital distribution of recordings. They will work their way down the value chain, beginning with artists and their managers in tank 1, then the producers in tank 2 and distributors in tank 3. The reason to separate the various groups is to get away from the usual conflicts and attempt to find new solutions. Tank 4 will bring together the discoveries of the first three. The fifth event is much broader. It will be looking for best digital practice across the entire music sector and then will attempt to work towards national consistency in the application of this practice. If any IMC members are interested in communicating about these issues, we would be very pleased to have those conversations.

YOUTH MUSIC COUNCIL
The Music Council of Australia will set up a youth music council as an advisory body. We want to give the opportunity to develop leadership in the music sector, and also to take advantage of youth's understanding of the new technologies. We have been inspired by the examples set by EMC's Working Group Youth, and the youth members of CIOFF and the Music Teachers' National Association in the USA. We would like to open up communications between our youth council and the youth members of other IMC members. Please get in touch if you would like to collaborate, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
