European Commission online public consultation concerning short-stay "Schengen" visas *DEADLINE 17 JUNE*
To this day, the response rate to the public consultation on "Improving the procedures for obtaining short-stay 'Schengen' visas" in particular with regard to the mobility of artists and culture professionals has been rather slim.
The thematic seminar organised last month by the Culture policy and intercultural dialogue Unit of the European Commission on the administrative practices related to artists' mobility and visa under the Work Plan for Culture 2011-2014, clearly brought to the fore the obstacles third country national artists face when they try to enter the EU's Schengen area, as well as the impact of the EU's short-term visa policy to the culture sector (for the artists, artistic work and production, inviting organisations, cultural diversity, revenue, etc.).
As the deadline for the closure of the online public consultation is fast approaching, I would like to urge your organisations to send your contributions in writing as soon as possible and not later than JUNE 17 to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Moreover, I would also like to invite you to strongly and actively encourage your individual members to reply by the deadline of June 17 to the online questionnaire found at the following link in 8 languages, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Turkish:

This opportunity to address a problem that has for long being considered as one of the major obstacles to artists' mobility should not be missed.

_______________
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/what-is-new/public-consultation/2013/consulting_0025_en.htm
